Two things. The entire press never treated Donald Trump as a politician running for president. They treated him like a celebrity and never really held him to account for all his constant contradictions and lies. That was their failure.

And second now Trump will actually have to govern. Which I think is an even bigger challenge than his scandals. Now he will actually have to do things and not just talk about them. And if things go bad he will be held accountable for them.

Trump can't just bullshit his way through any more.

I make my living working with non profits, and the general sense is that, before the whole holding him accountable thing happens, there'll be a lot of damage. Even if the dems sweep into Congress in 2018, two years is a long time. He's going to try to bullshit his way through, and, in so doing, fuck a lot of things up. I think we're all hoping there'll be a lightning bolt of a scandal that will just make him go away, quickly, but no such scandals going to appear.

You're right: he'll have to govern. And he will. And it will get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

So let's see if we have this straight.

Every mainstream media outlet had this awful "Russian blackmail dossier" before the election.

Even the Clinton campaign had it.

But they didn't move on it. Not even the New York Times would move on it. Because the whole thing is ludicrous on its face.

But the fact that they all had it means that our world renowned intelligence and law enforcement agencies leaked it.

The same agencies that we are now supposed to believe, when they tell us that Russia rigged the election.

So. On Friday, the CIA, NSA and FBI were supposed to giving a classified briefing to president-elect Trump, to present the evidence supporting their high degree of confidence that Russia rigged the election under Putin's personal direction. They were supposed to be justifying the thousands of US Special Forces that Obama has deployed on the Russian border. Which has resulted in thousands of Russian tanks and artillery, along with tactical nuclear munitions, now pointed at Eastern Europe.

But instead, these world renowned agencies were showing Trump this unsubstantiated allegation that Russia's been blackmailing Trump with crap about Russian whores named Olga and Zinka.

A dossier which we now know was handed to Comey personally by none other than John McCain.

And we also now know that there is no evidence to support this nonsense, despite more than six months of effort by our intelligence agencies, costing untold millions, at taxpayer expense.

Over the weekend, Trump (no doubt thoroughly disgusted and chomping at the bit to FIRE THE LOT OF THEM), chose not to dignify this bullshit with a response.

This caused a vacuum of reporting by the incredulous media, which had it all along and had known he would be briefed with it. And since Trump chose not do dignify it with a response, THEY reported the fake news that Trump is showing "more restraint" in his distrust of the Russian election rigging story.

The vacuum wasn't acceptable to Buzzfeed, which decided to run with the story.

Nor was it acceptable to CNN, which piled on with the triumphant claim that they've been cultivating this one all along, with four top notch investigative journalists including Carl Bernstein.

There's just one problem.

The entire thing is complete and utter bullshit, from start to finish. They don't even have their sources correct. And the people they've named as bagmen and middlemen in this nefarious "blackmailing scheme" weren't even in Europe at the time. It wasn't a matter of lack of corroboration of the claims; these "top notch investigative journalists" didn't even get the identities right! And why should they? The whole thing is a smear. A smear, and nothing else.

But hey, I'll view it all positively. The good news is that (1) Russia can't blackmail us with this "bombshell" anymore; (2) the heads of all our world renowned intelligence agencies can kindly RESIGN on January 21; and (3) this should be the final nail that punctures the "Russian Election Rigging Balloon," so the US and Russian armies can STAND DOWN, and order can prevail.

 

We'll see and very much not how it is being reported here........the pissing party was in 2013 according to the chat show I have seen.

Okay. Let's break this down.
There are 3 groups that supported Trump and handed him the keys to the White House.
1) Those who were voting against Clinton. They were holding their noses when they voted, but it was a vote against Clinton, not a vote for Trump. These are the revolutionaries.
2) The meat heads who actually believed everything Trump was saying. He'd close the borders, he'd bring back jobs, he'll cut YOUR taxes. A clear minority.
3) The Republicans who always, but always, vote Republican no matter what. Another small minority.

There are 2 groups intent on getting Trump out of office or preventing him from ever taking the oath.
1) The Clinton hard liners. These are the people who protested in the streets, have churned out bad press after bad press, or circulated anything bad about Trump regardless of it's accuracy. They are still, 2 months after their loss, frothing and writhing with the unfairness of it all. The majority of Trump "unsupporters".
2) The crooks and robbers who have made careers and Millions of dollars out of working the political system and who are now facing the stark reality that they just might be booted out on their collective asses, and perhaps even tossed into jail. A minority, but a powerful minority.

For Trump's part, he only has 3 choices;
1) Do what he and his advisors believe is the right thing to do in terms of "Making America Great again"; the great negotiator will have his work cut out for him, what with the two groups above determined to stop Trump at any cost. He could advocate changing the wall paper in the oval office and they will bitch.
2) Proceed with a witch hunt that would make McCarthy blush with envy; hunt down every power broker, influence peddler and corrupt politician, expose them, convict them, and jail them. If he actually starts this process though his life span can be measured in hours.
3) Sell out. Join the corrupt politicians.

There are two groups that will support Trump, at least initially;
1) The hard line Republicans. But, they'd support Clinton if she switched to Republican.
2) The meat heads who believed Trump. Until they decide Trump lied to them.

Meanwhile, the revolutionaries are doing their homework; what was the net worth of our congress critters when they were first elected, and what is it today? If they have done better than the average, why? They will be asking the hard questions come the next elections and voting accordingly. And come the next election, a lot of Congress Critters are going to be out on their collective asses. And the election after that more vermin will be tossed out. And more in the election after that. And so on. By the end of Trump's first term it will be better. By the end of his second term, assuming he lasts that long, it will be almost right again.

So, whatever Trump does won't really matter. It won't matter if he ends up being the most popular President in history, is assassinated as he takes the oath, is impeached in his first year, or just mucks along for 4 years and sinks into oblivion.
Trump is irrelevant.
His "unsupporters" are irrelevant.
The Democrats and Republicans are irrelevant.

In the end the only thing that matters is getting Congress to take care of our business, not their business. Trump won't get Congress to do that. The Democrats and Republicans won't do it. The Trump "unsupporters' won't do it. The meat heads won't do it.

Only the revolutionaries can do it.

 

Actually you and I are in almost total agreement. I think we are headed for disaster and it is going to be misery in slow motion and will set our country back decades. And in the meantime Putin/Russia will gain incredible advantages at a time the US actually had Putin seriously weakened and his only hope was getting Trump elected.

And that is what I see as the best case scenario when the worst case scenario is nuclear winter.

So anyway...

Trump made a singular intelligent truthful statement during the debates and not one since. A statement that should concern folks, yet one impossible to argue with, by its very nature it shuts the entire conversation down cold. That being; Regarding his abuse of the tax laws to avoid taxes (which he never fully answered, yet his quip was enough). "Because I'm smart."

Well okay, the smart part is a lie, but in a nutshell he said: Okay, yeah so what? I did it, have no regrets, and would do it again. Don't like it? Change the laws.

That I can accept as a valid answer. Not the answer we want to hear, yet honest. The point being, I can accept a villain as long as he is an honest villain. What a President of the United States cannot have is secrets and lies. They can both come back to bite you, and when they do even the honest things you stated are brought into question in that "doubt" has been introduced.

A President cannot have secrets and lies in that he has to have the highest level of security clearances in the nation. If there is something that can be used to leverage him, the only and best thing he can do is bring it out in the open, be unapologetic if he choses to, in fact that's the best way, and that kills it right there. It is no longer a security concern.

Personally, using the golden shower thing, I don't buy that he had hookers piss on the bed because Obama would be in it. Him piss on the bed for that reason? Yeah, I'd buy that. If it was having escorts do it on each other simply because he liked it, okay fine. He's like most men, err, perverts, in fact, I get more concerned when we hear about these straight laced never did it in any position except missionary, to have children with their wife types... Because, 99% of those are lying, and the 1% are even more fucked up.

So if he did it, likes to do it, whatever... fine. Own it and it is said and done.

Then all we have to deal with are the hundreds of other lies he continues to spout regularly.
