Joshua Telsaks sat in the grass as he watched the last rays of light race
across the sky in a cascade of pink and orange. The trees were starting to
turn yellow and red and began to blend with the sky, making the horizon
disappear in a plethora of foliage that lined the hill tops.
It was late October in Faresea, North Carolina, almost time for Halloween.
Pumpkins lined the doorsteps of the houses along with other decorations and
golden orange leaves swayed with the wind. The air had light scent of wood
smoke as people lit fires to keep themselves warm in the oncoming cold.
This season usually would be a time of joy, but for Joshua this moment in
time was for thinking.
Joshua had been born and grown up in a town 80 miles north. It was a small
town like this one and also on the coast. It was in the state of Virginia
and was called Lisphield.
There were many things he loved about that town other than the fact that it
served as a base for all his childhood memories. He loved the way the hills
seemed to be perfect for speeding down on a bike. He loved how the owner of
the local bakery gave him free cookies whenever he stopped by to buy
ingredients for his parents. He loved how the library seemed to have every
book he could ever want. And yet there was one thing he loved even more
than all of this. He loved the fact that the town was the home to the boy
who was his first love. He loved Cameron.
Joshua had met Cameron when they were both in 4th grade. Cameron was a
little taller than Joshua and, when they first met, he could only describe
him as cool looking. He had dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Freckles dotted
his face beneath his eyes and his tan skin matched his athletic build
nicely. His nose was a little small but his features were nicely
proportioned and even at a young age he had a masculine appearance. They
were about 9 years old, and the first thing Joshua remembered about when
they met was getting a weird feeling in his stomach upon seeing Cameron. He
didn't know why, but every time he talked to him he felt a strange
sensation overcome him. He never did understand this feeling, but the
strange discomfort went away as he started to hang out more and more with
Cameron. If they were inside, they spent time at each other's house looking
up YouTube videos, or playing videogames. Yet the activities they enjoyed
most took place outside.
They both had a love for riding their bikes and exploring the woods. They
would spend entire days riding their bikes down trails and far out into the
woods until they reached the top of the hills that surrounded the town.
Both boys would stop to gaze down at the town in amazement, always lying
next to one another on the side of the hill viewing the town beneath.
Fifth grade stared and both boys had had their 10th birthdays
together. They were born exactly one day apart so they both agreed to hold
their birthdays at Joshua's house. Most people had even begun to wonder if
they were brothers since they did look alike. Joshua shared the same hazel
eyes though his hair was more dirty blonde. He also had a more lanky build
and his skin was less tan. Additionally, his face had a more effeminate
look because of the way his features were aligned; especially with how his
eyes lined up on his face. The boys had begun to spend so much time
together that it seemed that they were inseparable, especially since they
only lived a short bike ride away from each other. Just about every minute
was spent together. They had even bathed together a few times because of
how close they felt.
Cameron and Joshua of course had shown each other all of their respective
belongings and both borrowed each other's things all the time. Cameron
would borrow a baseball bat while Joshua would borrow a shirt. Joshua would
borrow a video game and Cameron would borrow a DVD.
They didn't mind sharing their stuff, and it was a frequent event that they
forgot who owned what. Their parents had even grown used to the idea that
their clothing was likely to get mixed up and soon gave up trying to figure
out whose was what. They wore a similar size so the clothes fit about the
same anyway. Yet one item that Cameron held was something Joshua always
found interesting. It was a small plastic ring that was dark blue in
color. It had a tiny gold heart on the top of it and shined a bit in the
light. He kept it taped down onto his window sill.
"What's this for?" Joshua asked as they scoured through Cameron's room for
a baseball one day.
"It's a ring I'm going to give to someone one day," Cameron replied as he
walked up behind Joshua and looked at the ring with him.
"Who you gonna give it to?" Joshua asked with genuine curiosity.
"To the person I love," Cameron said in almost a dream like voice.
Joshua had small grin; he found it a little funny that Cameron thought a
plastic ring would suffice for an expression of love.
"I thought they had to be made of gold?"
"Well...that's a lot of money...and why gold? Why not plastic?" Cameron
responded.
Joshua gave it a little thought, and it did seem a bit weird that it had to
be made of gold.
"Well...I don't know...I think it's just one of those stupid adult things,"
Joshua said since he did believe that most adult customs seemed odd to him
at the least.
"Yea probably so," Cameron said agreeing.
"So baseball?" Joshua asked with a smile as he held up his glove and bat.
"Baseball," Cameron said with an equally bright smile as he held up a
baseball.
In early spring of fifth grade Cameron had asked Joshua to come over to his
house after school one day. When he arrived he noticed that both of
Cameron's parents seemed to be gone, and was informed they were away on
business trips. Joshua didn't mind this though, since he didn't think of it
as a big problem. Then in the middle of a video game Cameron turned off the
console and said he wanted to try a new game he had heard about. Joshua
smiled crookedly as he looked at Cameron.
"Ok and what game?"
"Doctor," Cameron said cheerfully.
Joshua's whole body and mind suddenly shuttered. He knew what that game
was, and he knew where it would end up. He felt the same butterflies come
to his stomach as he had so long ago.
His heart beat a bit faster and he felt jitters come to him.
"You mean....like...when I take my clothes off?" Joshua asked nervously.
"Umm.....I mean you don't have..."
"No its fine....I'm ok with that..." Joshua said quickly.
He didn't want Cameron to think he was against the idea so he quickly got
up on Cameron's bed and started to take his shirt off. The whole time he
noticed Cameron staring at him with wide eyes. This wasn't like when they
would take showers together. This was different, and he felt the excitement
that filled the air. The electricity that ran between the two boys made the
room feel like lightning was dancing in the air just in front of their
eyes. Joshua lay down on the bed.
Cameron approached and placed his warm hand on his chest.
"Your heart is racing, and your breathing is fast," he said in a
monotone. "But otherwise, you look fairly healthy."
"Yes doctor, I try to stay fit and eat right," Joshua replied, doing his
best to stay calm and play the part.
"But there is one more thing I need to check," Cameron said with a slight
smile. Slowly, he moved his hands downward and took Joshua's pants
waistband in his hand. He pulled them down and off Joshua's feet.
Joshua was now lying there wearing only his boxers. He had long since grown
hard and it was clearly visible. Cameron hesitated a moment and then looked
at Joshua. The excitement and nervousness was apparent in his eyes. Neither
knew what they were doing, or where they were going, but they felt as
though they were on an adventure like when they would ride their bikes into
the woods. They weren't sure what they would find but they wanted to find
it anyway.
"Joshua....can I..." but Joshua cut him off before he could continue.
"Of course you can...I trust you dude. I mean, doctor," Joshua said as he
looked up, trying to look as serious as possible in an effort to calm
Cameron.
Cameron smiled timidly as he took a hold of the elastic waist band. He then
pulled the boxers down and off Joshua entirely. He had seen his friend
naked before, so Cameron knew that Joshua was still completely hairless and
was circumcised. Now, however, he could look more closely. He saw that his
friend was about two and a quarter inches in length, which was almost
exactly his size when he was hard as well. The only difference between the
two was that Cameron still had his foreskin, but Joshua had already told
him that he thought that looked cool.
Cameron was fairly nervous but overcame it. He slowly reached down and
moved his fingers closer to Joshua's penis. Finally he touched it. The
feeling for both boys was amazing. Joshua gasped a bit and Cameron drew
away quickly.
"Did I hurt you?!" Cameron said, quickly worried that he had actually
caused Joshua pain.
"No dude...that felt...awesome...could you keep touching it please?" Joshua
said with almost a hint of desperation in his voice.
A light smile appeared on Cameron's face as he again reached down. This
time, he began to rub around on Joshua's penis and balls. Joshua felt
amazing and started to get a weird feeling in his lower stomach. It almost
felt like he had to pee but he kept letting Cameron rub him. He started
panting and making squeaking noises and noticed Cameron's look of concern
on his face.
"It feels really good dude...don't stop," Joshua said, a smile creeping to
his face as he continued to heave and sweat.
Then it started to feel as if he was about to pee. Suddenly it hit and
Joshua started to buck, as the most amazing feelings ever engulfed his
body. He thrashed his hips up as he moaned loudly.
Cameron immediately appeared shocked and backed away a bit repeating how
sorry he was.
Joshua, once the orgasm subsided, began to giggle and sat up with a huge
grin on his face.
Cameron looked confused as Joshua approached him. He took him into a tight
embrace and then brought his own lips to Cameron's. He kept kissing him for
what felt like eternity, but in reality, was a few seconds.
"Don't be sorry, it was amazing," Joshua said as he looked deep into
Cameron's hazel eyes.
It was at that moment that they both knew their friendship had
changed. They didn't know if it was love, but they knew that a friend was a
term that no longer could describe the feelings they shared. A new term
needed to be found for their friendship, and as they grew older, the term
finally came.
Both boys were 11 and just starting the sixth grade. They had been
experimenting with this doctor game, and had found several new ways to
enjoy it as well, with Cameron playing the patient as well. They explored
kissing and cuddling and found they could rub against each other to get
those same feelings. But neither was pushing to go further. Neither knew
that they could, and at this time of innocence, neither wanted to.
It was after school in December, and Joshua and Cameron had gone to a spot
on one of the hills that they had commonly visited as children. They had a
beautiful view of the entire town and the coast as well. They could see the
beaches stretch down for miles and miles and the entire town lay
below. Even though the foliage had long fallen away, it was still a
breathtaking view as the sun set and cast a golden glow on the landscape
and boys' faces. It was during this adventure that Cameron finally told
Joshua that he loved him. He said he had kept thinking about him all the
time and that he always wanted to be with him. Then he asked it.
"Joshua, would you be my boyfriend?" Cameron asked, a smile radiating from
his face and his voice bright with joy.
"Can we be....I mean I didn't know boys could do that?" Joshua said, not so
much against the idea, just not knowing that it was possible.
"Sure we can. Girls date boys, so why can't a boy date a boy?"
"I don't know actually..." Joshua said, now liking the idea.
"So can we?" Cameron repeated, just as certain and bright as before.
Joshua looked at this boy's face. The face that always brought a smile to
his own, that occupied his dreams, and the thought of which made him feel
safe and happy. He knew that this was ok.
The smile on Cameron's face soon appeared on Joshua's face as well, and he
looked again into those deep set hazel eyes. He knew that he loved him too.
"Yes, and Cameron, I love you too," Joshua said as he leaned in and
embraced Cameron.
Their lips made contact and they began to passionately kiss as feelings of
care and security swept over them. Though they had never felt that feeling
before, they knew that this was alright. They knew this was how it was
supposed to be. This was love.
Within a few months the boys had admitted their feelings to their parents,
who were shocked. At first they tried to pull them apart, telling them that
they were too young to understand what they were saying. Yet they continued
to find ways to see each other. They would sneak out in the middle of the
night and meet at the park just to be with each other. They would Skype
with each other when no one was around or call or text. They did whatever
it took to talk. Yet every moment that Joshua wasn't with Cameron, he felt
empty. His grades began to slip and he rapidly grew depressed, despite his
parents' best attempts to cheer him up.
They took him on a vacation that spring break to a theme park, but to no
avail, because it only reminded him of how much he wanted Cameron there
with him. They took him to a therapist, but again he wasn't able to do
anything to help make Joshua happy again. Finally, Joshua had decided he
couldn't take it. He was fed up with the idea that he didn't know what he
was talking about. He was nearly 12, and though still young, he knew that
he loved Cameron and refused to be away from him.
It was mid June when Joshua called Cameron. He told him that he wanted to
see him and to ride his bike over to his house. Joshua was a bit uncertain
and asked if his parents were going to freak out.
"I don't care if they do...I just want to be with you again," Joshua said.
The line was quiet as a moment of intimacy was shared, and they felt their
love for each other rekindle. They knew that it had to be done.
"Ok I'll be right over," Cameron said as he quickly hung up.
Within seven minutes, Cameron was at the front door waiting to be let
in. Joshua quickly opened the door and led him inside, and they both sat
down on the couch. He turned on the TV and they started watching a show as
they held each other close. They rubbed their hands on the other's arms and
eventually snaked their hands under the other's shirt and started rubbing
their chests.
They loved feeling of being so close to each other once again and enjoyed
the physical contact as well as the warmth of their young bodies.
Then they heard the garage door open as Joshua's parents returned from a
shopping trip.
Cameron began to freak out and tried to pull away but Joshua held on
tight. Cameron looked back at Joshua with a shocked expression.
"Dude your parents?!"
"I don't care what they think. I love you and I don't care what they
say. We will do this together," Joshua said calmly and confidently.
"Ok," Cameron said as he looked at Joshua. His face betrayed his
nervousness, but his trust in Joshua was enough to keep him in control.
His parents walked into the den talking to each other as they entered. Then
they saw Cameron and Joshua holding each other sitting on the couch as the
television show droned on in the background.
Joshua's parents looked shocked and mildly annoyed. Joshua's dad was first
to speak.
"Son...what are you doing?"
"I'm watching TV with Came...with my boyfriend," Joshua said, stopping
himself from saying Cameron. He wanted to make a point to his parents that
he really did care for Cameron beyond a simple friendship.
"Joshua...we told you..." but Joshua cut his father short before he could
finish.
"Yea I know you told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. But
you know what? I do. I LOVE CAMERON. I was depressed because I couldn't be
with him. Dad...I'm happy when I get to be with him, and shouldn't that be
what you care about, not some stupid idea of what a man should be? What's
the point of being like that if I hate my life?" Joshua said feeling the
weight being lifted from his chest.
Joshua's dad took a moment to look down at Cameron. His face showed that he
was scared, but anxious for the outcome. His dad let out a sigh and cast
down his eyes.
"Son...if this is what makes you happy...then ok...I'll talk it over with
his parents," Joshua's dad said, sounding defeated.
It hurt him that his dad felt like this, but Joshua knew that it was for
the best. He knew that his dad would be ok with it in the end, and he knew
that his parents would come to accept a new image of him. Maybe not today,
but soon.
That night Joshua's parents discussed it with Cameron's parents and they
all agreed that it was for the best that they allow their sons to be
together. They didn't want to see them get depressed again.
By the time they turned 12 and had started seventh grade, both their
parents had finally come to accept that they were dating. They were much
more open to their relationship and even came to help support its growth by
taking them out on their dates and giving them their personal space.
With all of this starting their relationship had grown to new
heights. Their experimentation had gone as far as oral sex and both had
found it to be nothing short of amazing. They began to wonder if this
relationship could possibly last forever. Yet sadly, it wasn't to be.
It was May when Joshua's parents came to him one day after school.
"Son....we need to tell you something, and I think you probably should sit
down for this,"
Joshua's mom said.
Joshua could detect the nervousness in their voices. It reminded him of
Cameron, but then it snapped and he realized that it might have something
to do with him. He felt panic and fear overwhelm him as he desperately
waited for his parents to continue. They looked at each other for a moment
and then looked back at Joshua.
"Son...I was informed by my boss today that the branch here is closing. We
are going to have to move to their office down in North Carolina," his dad
said sullenly.
"Wait...how far down?" Joshua responded.
He still clung to the last bit of hope that just maybe they wouldn't be
moving too far away. The North Carolina border wasn't too far south and
maybe they wouldn't be too far away. Yet his better side was telling him
that they would be moving fairly far away. His parents wouldn't have that
tone of voice otherwise.
"A little more than an hour south, around 80 miles. I'm sorry son," his dad
said.
Joshua felt his heart sink to his feet and he felt that he would be at the
verge of tears.
"When are we moving..." Joshua asked, his voice quivering slightly.
"The first week of June."
Joshua felt another pain stick through this heart. That was only two weeks
away, and he knew he didn't have much time left with Cameron. He quickly
got up and went to his room where he finally collapsed on his bed and felt
the tears pour out. Every hope he had for a future with Cameron was dashed
in an instant, and his happiness was robbed from him as well.
It was the next day that Joshua told Cameron he wanted to go on a bike ride
together. He didn't tell him immediately and wanted to wait to. Yet despite
his attempts to hide his emotions, he knew that Cameron picked up on his
uneasiness before they even started on the ride. He could tell that Cameron
sensed that he was upset, since he usually was a very positive person.
"Dude are you ok? You seem really down today," Cameron said even before
they had rolled out of the drive way.
"Well...I'll tell you when we get there," Joshua said as they rolled out
and headed down the street.
They got to the pathway that led into the woods and started the ride up to
their favorite spot. It was the same place where Cameron first admitted his
love for Joshua. Yet the whole trip up was almost ghostly silent. Usually
they would be singing along the way or talking to each about class or some
other subject, yet Joshua just didn't seem to be in the mood.
After an hour's ride they finally reached the place and sat down to
rest. They both looked down at the town, glowing in the sun's rays. It was
a perfectly clear day and it was around 11 am. The bright sun lit the town
with a beautiful shine that could only be seen in perfect summer days like
this. The green trees almost seemed to resonate peace and tranquility as
the town's buildings stood in harmony and the sea shined gold as waves
rolled onto the shoreline. And yet, Joshua felt it was all a faade, as
if it were mocking him and his troubles. Cameron sat down next to Joshua
and let out a light laugh.
"That was a heck of a ride in the heat huh?" Cameron said with a bright
smile.
Joshua looked him in the eyes and felt horrible that he knew he was about
to have to tell him something he thought could only happen in the worst of
his nightmares.
"Cameron...I have some really bad news," Joshua said.
"Wait...what?" Cameron said as his demeanor suddenly changed to one of
panic and anxiety.
Joshua took a breath in and let it out in a saddened sigh.
"I'm moving the first week of June...over an hour south of here," Joshua
said as he cast his eyes down on the ground.
"No...please say you're joking!" Cameron said, his voice started to
quiver. It was obvious that he was starting to lose control.
"I really wish I could say I was Cameron....I'm so sorry," Joshua said in a
melancholy tone.
Cameron's face suddenly scrunched up. He started to gasp for breath and
tears lined his cheeks.
Joshua immediately moved to him and wrapped his arms in a tight
embrace. Cameron then let out his sobs into Joshua's shoulders. He started
shaking violently and was feeling as if the world had ended. Joshua felt
the tears come to his face as well and tried his best to reassure
Cameron. He tried to say they could maybe get back together when they get
old enough to drive. He said that maybe they could still see each other. He
said that maybe everything would turn out all right. Yet he knew these
words were hollow. They lacked certainty, conviction, they were lies. He
couldn't even convince himself to hold as true the falseness they
resonated. Yet he didn't lie to hurt Cameron, but only because he couldn't
stand to see Cameron be hurt.
There was nothing to do but hold on tight while he still could, because
soon even the strongest bond they shared wouldn't be able to last. They
knew that they would be limited since they were just kids and that because
of this, their love would become pain. This pain would become hurt, and
eventually it would be a dull reminder of everything that could have
been. They sat there together as their last hopes for love sped away and
their sobs fell to the cold ground beneath. It was a cold world, and their
source of warmth was leaving.
Finally they departed back home and upon arrival Cameron's parents were
immediately informed of Joshua's departure. They told him that he could
make new friends, and that one day he could find another person to be his
boyfriend. Yet they were just empty words attempting to reassure a boy who
was shown a world where certainty was only but a vague memory left to flail
in the winds of time and change. And as this flag of hope and certainty
waved in the wind, it wore away and faded and eventually, disintegrated
into dust. Yet for him it had disintegrated all too soon.
Over the next two weeks Joshua said goodbye to his friends. Some told him
that it would be ok, others hoped they could keep contact, some even shed
tears, and yet all told him that he would be missed. Yet it was Cameron who
told him this most.
It was the day before the move when the doorbell rang. Joshua went to
answer it and there stood a boy a bit taller than him, with an athletic
build and hazel eyes. It was the boy that filled his dreams and thoughts,
and the boy that had stolen his heart. It was Cameron holding a small box.
He walked in and they both went to Joshua's room. His parents noticed and
let it be. They knew that it was the last goodbyes and they knew that they
needed time alone.
Cameron shut the door and locked it behind them. He walked in and sat down
in the middle of the room. It was now entirely empty except for Joshua's
bed. It once was lined with baseball posters, stickers, books, and it
looked like a boy's room. Yet now it was but an empty shell, that served as
a hollow reminder of what was a room where so many firsts were
experienced. Where so many emotions had been exchanged and so many feelings
brought forth. Where a boy's imagination changed it into a space adventure
or a pirate ship and a place he could call home. But now, this was no more.
"Joshua, I wanted to give you this," Cameron said holding out the small
cardboard box.
Joshua took it in his hand and it felt light, very light in fact. He opened
up the box and inside he saw a small plastic ring. It was blue with a small
golden heart on the top of it. Joshua looked up to Cameron, both with sad
eyes and sad smiles as they looked into the eyes of the person they loved
so much one last time. Joshua placed the box and ring on the floor as he
walked up to Cameron and wrapped him in a tight embrace. He started to
passionately kiss the lips that brought him so much joy. They started to
gently remove the little clothing they were wearing in the summer heat and
quickly moved to Joshua's bed.
There they intertwined as they cuddled and held onto each other. They felt
their penises rub together, and soon the intense feelings of orgasm began
to rise, this time stronger than ever before. Within minutes of rubbing
against each other, surges of pleasure began to pulse through their young
bodies, but this time they actually came. In wave after wave, small spurts
of liquid hit the other's stomach as the world seemed to stop and time
paused while the most intense feeling of pleasure swept both boys off their
feet. After what a minute they both regained themselves as they pulled
apart.
"Whoa...dude...you came!" Cameron said as he ran his fingers through his
and Joshua's mixed cum.
"Dude you did too," Joshua said pointing to the tip of Cameron's still
erect penis.
Soon, however, the feelings from the orgasm departed and the emptiness came
over them again as sadness returned. Then the realization hit them. This
was the very last time ever they could do something like that. This was the
last time they could kiss or hug or hold each other tight. It was the last
time to whisper in the others ear how much they loved one another. It was
the last time.
Tears came to their eyes again and they lightly sobbed. Joshua tried to
whisper words of reassurance but again, it was hollow, and he knew that it
was the end. It had been a great run, an amazing one and they had developed
a connection that neither knew was even possible, but its time had run out.
The next day Cameron came to say goodbye as Joshua got into the car. They
once again held each other tight and did their best to hold back tears in
front of Joshua's parents. Yet despite their best efforts a few slipped.
They kissed each other one last time, told the other they loved them, and
with that Joshua got into the van and closed the door.
They pulled down the street and started to drive away. Joshua turned around
and locked eyes with Cameron who stood there, with sad eyes, looking lost
like a small child. He gave a solemn wave with a face betraying his true
depression. Joshua gave one back and kept eyes locked with him until he
finally went around the bend and lost sight of him. He had lost him for
good this time.
This had all happened five months ago and now Joshua had started eighth
grade and was thirteen. He sat down on the hill watching the kids pass by
on their bikes and could clearly hear the ever familiar click of bicycle
wheels ring out and children's laughter resonate in the park grounds. He
could even hear off in the distance the light splash as waves finally came
to rest on the shoreline. It reminded him so much of the place he called
home where his heart resided, yet even this had changed.
About two months ago Cameron had been talking to Joshua on the phone and
told him that a boy had asked him out on a date. Joshua told him he was
happy for him and that he was looking forward to seeing pictures of them
together. Yet he knew that it only acted as salt on a still open wound, and
it burned just the same. But his love for Cameron went beyond a selfish
desire to fulfill his own emotions. He wanted Cameron happy, even if it
meant that it couldn't be with him, not matter how badly he wanted it to
be.
Joshua was suddenly plucked out of his trance by someone calling his name
from afar. It was the voice of Wynn Rochshel. They had seen each other and
talked a few times in the halls before.
Yet about a month ago they had finally decided to hang out and it turned
out that they only lived about a mile away from another. It was an easy
bike ride and Joshua had quickly developed a connection to this boy.
He was 12 and in seventh grade, but despite this slight difference he took
an immediate liking to Wynn. He was full of energy and loved bikes and
baseball just as much as Joshua did. He even had a similar taste in music
and movies. They had started to spend more and more time together and
quickly Joshua was pulled out of his sad state. He even had gained a few
other friends, yet it was Wynn who occupied most of his time. Yet despite
their closeness, Joshua never said anything about himself being gay because
he was afraid of how Wynn may react. His worst fear was that Wynn would
somehow figure out that he even liked him. He was cute, smart, kind, shared
similar interests, and had a spirit that seemed energized and filled with
boundless amounts of happiness. It was like he was in contact with his
inner child far more than most kids and it was something that drew Joshua
to him.
Within seconds Wynn rode up the hill and was now straddling his bike
between his legs, standing over Joshua who was sitting under the tree
admiring Wynn's body.
He was a shorter than Joshua and had golden blonde hair that was about
shoulder length and sky blue eyes. His face was small, as were the other
features on his face, but they were all perfectly proportioned. He was
clearly a boy but his face still betrayed some effeminate features, though
it was really only because the features were so small. It made him look
cute, adorable some would say. He was about as tan as Joshua was but had a
skater's build. He was definitely athletic and this was even more obvious
with his shirt off.
Then Wynn suddenly got something out of his backpack. It was a giant red
card that had been perfectly shaped into a question mark. It was obvious
that Wynn had made it since he was quite the artist. Joshua looked up at
him with a curious look and lopsided smile strewn across his face.
"Well...open it dude it. It's not a bomb," Wynn said with a smile that
equaled the sun in radiance.
Joshua let out a light laugh and opened the card, which split in half to
make two question marks that mirrored each other.
Inside thousands of small stars had been drawn as well as pictures of
bikes, missiles, buildings, and monsters. Then in the middle of all this
paper chaos was a building that had a table drawn on top of it where two
boys sat. They looked like they were having dinner and Joshua immediately
recognized it as him and Wynn.
Beneath, written in red paint, was a question.
"In this crazy world would you go on a date with me and would you be my
boyfriend pretty please with a half eaten cherry on top?"
The question immediately brought a smile to his face and he couldn't help
but giggle a little. He looked at the card, and then looked up again at
Wynn's bright face.
It may not be the same as before, but Joshua knew that love was love. He
knew that he could be just as close if not closer to Wynn than he was with
Cameron. He knew that the old relationship was over and though it was an
amazing time, it would never be again. Joshua had to let go and move on.
Though he would never forget Cameron as his first love, and though he could
never gain back what they once had, he knew that he could move on to new
love. He would always cherish the memories. This relationship with Wynn may
not be forever but he knew that right now, he wanted to be with him. He
felt it was ok, it was how it was supposed to be, and he knew that Cameron
would tell him to go for it.
"So...wanna go out with me" Wynn said with timid smile. There was
hopefulness in his voice with a hint of nervousness.
It was finally time. It was time to restart and come to love anew.
"Of course."
Authors note: So this was a short story that I felt inspired to write. It
really is designed to portray that even when you lose love with one, that
you can always find love with another. It may not ever be the same as it
was before, but that's not a reason one should never love again. Love is
love, regardless of the person you are in love with. So for those who are
going to ask, no this is a one part story. I'm sorry but that's how I wrote
it and I don't intend to make a series with Joshua or Wynn. I hope you
enjoyed this story though, and if you have questions, comments, or
suggestions please send them my way at EFoster447@yahoo.com . I really want
to know what you guys thought of this story so if you have the time I would
love to get a line or two from you guys. Of course I have to thank my
editor Mike Archer who helped revise this story. Also if you liked this
story and want to read one of my others look up my story "In Time". Here is
