      A New Life for Jordan

      By: Rob Warr

     Chapter 51

              Gosh, it's Josh

Lee peeked out of the door to his room, and seeing no one in the hallway he crept silently toward the stairs. He stopped to listen at Jordy's door, but heard nothing, a good sign that he and Seth were still asleep. He smiled. They probably were up half the night going at it, he thought, and they'd sleep till noon.

That was a good thing because Lee wasn't quite ready to disclose what he'd been up to lately. It wasn't a big deal, he decided, and even though he trusted the others emphatically with all his other secrets, this one would have to wait.

"Good morning. You're up early," Mrs. Kelly said giving the boy a peck on the cheek, "breakfast?"

"No ma'am, I was going to walk up to the C-Store and grab some donuts if that's okay."

"Well, sure," she said, "I suppose the lovers are still asleep?" she added with a chuckle.

"Yeah, I guess. I woke up early for some reason and couldn't go back to sleep. I might take a walk after I get my donuts. They probably won't be up for hours yet."

"Well...sure. Lee, honey, is everything all right?"

"What? Oh, sure...just fine. Just, you know, sometimes a guy needs a little space, that's all."

"Oh of course, I understand. Well, be careful and be sure to take your phone with you...in case," she said, unable to resist being a mother.

"Right here, mom, and fully charged," he chuckled as he held up his phone.

"Perfect, dear. Enjoy your walk and alone time," she said turning  her attention back to the laptop she'd been staring at when Lee had first appeared.

"Bye mom, see ya later.'

"Goodbye son."

Well, that went well, Lee thought. He knew his dad would be in the office by now, for even though Mack was officially the manager now, Mr. Kelly was a hands-on kind of guy who knew everything that went on at Bennett Falls Campground.

The morning air was cool and a slight breeze wafted against his face as he started up the road. He felt good, rested, and a bit excited. It was nice to be off on his own for once. He loved his brothers, especially Jordy, but sometimes a guy just needed some alone time to think things through. Of course, in this case he wasn't exactly going to be alone...not for long anyway.

The thought of what he was about to do sent little shivers up and down his muscular teenage body and he smiled. This wasn't exactly new territory for him, but this time it was a little different. This time he'd managed to keep his feelings a secret, and he was pretty sure no one, not even Jordy suspected what he was up to.

Topping the hill, he noted that The Hwy 20 Quik-Stop was busy, as usual, with fishermen on their way to the lake, families on their way to camp or perhaps picnic, and a few others on their way to work. The gas pumps, all four of them, were in use at the moment, no doubt because The Quik-Stop sold gas cheaper than any of the other stores nearby. They were careful, however, not to start a gas war, and they usually only undercut the others by a couple of cents, and if the others fell into line, well, that was okay too. Nobody wanted a war, especially over a few cents of profit per gallon.

Lee's attention was now focused on the shiny new Yamaha dirt bike parked at the side of the building, but it's rider was nowhere in sight. Figuring he must be inside, Lee started that way only to be met by the rider at the corner of the building.

"Hey, I wasn't sure you'd come," Lee said smiling in relief.

"What? Of course I came," the handsome boy said smiling back.

"Cool, nice bike."

"Thanks, best birthday gift I ever got," he said grinning, "but meeting up with you today is almost as good."

Lee pretended to frown, "Thanks, I think," then he smiled again, "So, are you hungry? I was going to grab some donuts. They bring them in from the bakery in Pryor and they're excellent."

"Cool, sure...as long as you let me pay."

"No way, I get a discount. You can pay next time," Lee insisted.

"Okay, deal. If that means there will be a next time, then I'm definitely down for that."

"Well, I hope there's a next time, but I thought that's what today was all about. Getting to know each other better and seeing if there's anything there to work on," Lee said sounding serious.

"Well, the truth is: I'm already sold, it's just you we have to convince," the boy said grinning.

Lee smiled, "Come on, Josh, let's get some breakfast."

"Well, hello, Lee," Frieda, the lady at the counter said with a big smile, "and who's this handsome young man?"

"This is Josh," Lee said smiling, proud to be in such company.

"Well, welcome to The Quik-Stop," she said grinning, " We got some fresh donuts, but better get em while you can, they're a goin' fast."

"That's why we're here," Lee said, "see ya in a bit."

"She's nice," Josh said as the two headed to the donut display. A huge glass fronted case with tray of donuts offered such treasures as bearclaws, maple bars, cinnamon rolls, and cake and fried donuts,  plain, fancy, filled and unfilled.

"Oh man, I could get fat eating these everyday," Josh said, his mouth practically watering, "but one day won't hurt me. Let's see...is four too many?" he asked to no one in particular.

"Four is just right for me," Lee chuckled, "I love the cream cheese and strawberry ones, oh, and the Boston Cream are good too..."

With donuts and fountain drinks,  added to the Kelly's tab, the boys headed outside to enjoy their breakfast.

"Back here, there's a picnic table beneath the trees. The employees use it for breaks but some folks use it too. Me and the other boys especially."

"Speaking of, the other boys. Where are they?"

"Seth and Jordy were still asleep in Jordy's room when I left, and Jerry spent the night at Carl's."

"So...do they know about us...yet?"

"Well, no, not really, but I'll eventually tell them," Lee said looking nervous.

"What aren't you telling me?" Josh said looking a bit hurt, "are you ashamed of being seen with me?"

"What?" No, no way!" Lee said quickly, "it's just that, well, it's complicated. My feelings are complicated. I just want to make sure this is for real before getting everyone excited about it. That happened with the girl I dated and when it ended I felt sort of...I don't know, weird. Like all my feelings were thrown out there for everyone to see and like I failed somehow."

Josh laid a hand on Lee's, "Lee, buddy. It's okay, it's no one's business but ours anyway, right? I was just worried that maybe you were afraid that Seth might hold a grudge because I nailed him with that ball," he added grinning.

"No way, he was the first to say that you weren't trying to hit him. He totally understands. You should know that from when he called you to tell you he was okay and was cool with what  happened."

"Yeah, I'm glad he called, but it was your call that really meant the most to me. You were so sweet on the phone," Josh said smiling. Then picking up Lee's hand he kissed it gently, "Umm...strawberry," he chuckled.

Lee looked around quickly to make sure no one was in sight, and seeing the coast was clear he relaxed.

"I have to admit, that day, at the game,  I couldn't take my eyes off you. Do you know how hard it was to concentrate on the game staring at your handsome face and muscular body?"

Josh laughed, "Ha, what about me? One smile from you and I melted. Why do you think you were able to hit that homer off me? You caused my knees to turn to rubber."

Lee laughed too, "It was sort of funny the way we both sort of started crushing on each other at first sight. I've never felt quite like that before, have you?"

"No, never," Josh said looking solemn, "heck, until now I've never even looked at a boy that way before. I've been with a few girls, but I'm still a virgin, if that matters."

"I know, you told me that you've never done anything with a girl or a boy. I'm surprised though, as hot as you are. Didn't you and your buds mess around when you were younger?"

"Nah, my parents are kinda religious and I led a sheltered life, I guess. Dad's an electrician, but he still finds time to preach a couple Sundays a month at this little church in Pryor. Most of my friends growing up were church kids and I guess they were as scared as I was to do that kind of stuff."

"So...that brings up the question: how do you know you like me that way if you've never done that stuff before?"

Josh sighed, "Well, this is kinda embarrassing, but lately when I jerk it, all I can think about is you. Of course since I haven't seen you naked, I have to imagine that part, but that pic you sent me of you shirtless in swim trunks has been spank material more than once."

Lee laughed, "What about your folks? Aren't you worried they might find out you like a boy?"

"Yeah, I'll be honest. It does worry me some, but even though my folks are religious, they're nice people. I've never heard them say anything bad about blacks or gays or other religions. I guess you could say they believe in God, but not some of the stuff some religions teach."

"So, what do you think we should do about...about this thing we have for each other?"

"Well, I thought maybe today we'd go riding, if that's okay. I even brought a spare helmet. We can find a nice quiet place to talk and get to know each other better. I know we been talking on the phone and messaging each other, but now we can talk face to face and really get to know each other."

Lee smiled, "I know the perfect place, but first, let's finish our breakfast."

A short while later Lee climbed on behind Josh and laced his arms around Josh's muscular frame. Both boys felt an immediate tingle and parts of their anatomy began to stiffen. Josh could feel that stiffness against his butt and couldn't resist wiggling a little bit to tease Lee.

"Careful there, buddy, or you might get a wet seat," Lee teased back.

"Just getting comfy," Josh said, "where shall we go?"

"Let's ride up to Spavinaw, do you know the way?"

"Sure, straight up 20, right?"

"Well, straight is an exaggeration, more like twisty-turny-snaky."

"Yeah, it'll be fun on the bike, just lean with me into the curves."

"Don't kill us," Lee warned, "my mom would never forgive you."

"Don't worry, I'm a very safe rider. Hold on for dear life though," Josh laughed, and they were off.

The ride to Spavinaw was both scary and exhilarating for Lee. It was sort of like riding one of those rides at the fair that pitched you this way and that, but you knew you were safe enough, even if you felt like puking some times.

The best part though was hugging Josh, feeling his warm muscular body against his own as the wind wafted his spicy teenage scent into his face. His cock was semi-hard the whole time and he supposed Josh was suffering the same condition. He was tempted to let his hand slide down to Josh's crotch to satisfy his curiosity, but he was afraid Josh would freak and wreck them.

Coming down off the last hill and around the last curve, the boys could smell the water of the creek and the temperature seemed to drop a few degrees. It was a beautiful day, sunshine and blue skies, temps so far in the 80s, with a promise of 90s by the end of the day.

"You know where to go, right?" Lee shouted.

"Yeah, the park, right?" Josh yelled back.

"Yeah!, next road on the right."

The entrance road led past the resident Park Ranger's trailer and to their right were the RV spots. Most of the pads were occupied, some campers appearing to have been there a while and in no hurry to go. As at Bennett Falls, there were regulars who came in the spring and stayed long periods of time, often reserving their favorite spot months in advance.

Beyond the RV pads was Spavinaw Creek, which at this particular time seemed to be running full. There had been a lot of rain lately and the creek being fed by the lake above it, was full from the runoff, which came over the long tall concrete spillway at the far end of the campground.

A few tent campers were already staked out, and Lee figured by the end of the day most of the sites would be taken. He and his brothers had camped here a few times, usually camping at their favorite spot, which fortunately other campers didn't seem to like as much as they did.

"Let's stop by the bathroom," Lee suggested, "that soda is going right through me."

"Gotcha," Josh said turning right along a road that intersected the road that meandered along the creek.

The bathrooms were a block wall building with the men's room on the left and the women's on the right. Inside, there was a single stall with a toilet, a urinal, a shower with a dressing area, and a long vanity with two sinks. It was well maintained and very clean this early in the day, but like most public bathrooms it still had a funky musky odor about it.

Lee hit the urinal while Josh leaned against the vanity, trying not to stare at Lee's backside but failing miserably.

"Next," Lee said zipping up his denim shorts.

"I'm good," Josh said.

"Really, so that isn't a pee boner you have there," Lee teased as he stared at the tent in Josh's shorts.

"It's the bike, I always get hard riding..." Josh stammered.

"Especially when a hot sexy boy is snuggled up behind you," Lee said grinning.

"That did not help matters much," Josh said blushing.

"I'm sorry, but I just have to tease you. It's how me and the other boys are. We give each other shit all the time, but we love each other."

"So...do you love me?" Josh chuckled.

"Well...let's just say, that's what we're about to find out. Love begins with friendship and maybe that's all this is, but we'll never know till we try."

"I'm ready...to try, I mean," Josh said smiling, "So...where to now?"

"Let's ride to the end of the park and walk across the spillway. There's a cool spot on the other side, totally private and it has a great view."

"I know the spot," Josh confessed, "Me and my friend David walked over there once."

"Oh, did you camp out here?" Lee asked as they walked out of the bathroom.

"Nah, we just came to swim. Hey, speaking of that, too bad we didn't bring our suits."

"Yeah, well...we could swim in our clothes, but the ride back would be a wet one."

"We'd dry pretty quick, but it might be a little uncomfortable down there," Josh chuckled.

"Wet balls and a shriveled weenie," Lee laughed.

"Exactly," Josh chuckled as they started off.

They only had to ride a few hundred feet to reach the end of the park, and once Josh had the bike locked up they hung the helmets on the handle bars, trusting that no one would steal them while they were away.

The path led down to the rocks, and from the rocks they made their way to the spillway, under the pipe and the violent plume of water that came forth and finally onto the base of the immense concrete spillway.

Although the water was running faster and in greater quantity than most times, it was spread out over the entire length of the spillway and didn't have much force as it dropped down the curved wall and ran off at the base.

"Surfing?' Lee said showing Josh how to position himself up the wall a bit and let the rapidly running water cascade around his feet, making it appear that he was surfing.

"Cool, hang ten," Josh chuckled, then trying his luck and almost losing his balance before correcting himself, "Cool, dude," he added with a laugh.

Eventually they tired of 'spillway surfing' and began the long walk across the base of the spillway. In places moss made it slippery, but the base was wide enough to allow them to go around most of these spots. Eventually they reached the far end, and after stepping down onto the rocks there they began the climb up the hill before them. It was a rather steep climb, but there was a path of sorts and rocks and tree roots to hand onto and eventually they made it to the top.

At the top they paused to look out at the lake, amazed at how large it was and a bit frightened by the thought that the only things holding all that water back was the spillway. For if the spillway were to break, flood waters would rush down the creek, washing away everything and everyone in the park and probably the town as well.

"Over here," Lee said leading Josh to the cement rest area at the top of the spillway.

"I wonder why they built this if they didn't make a way to get to it, at least not one that involved mountain climbing," Josh chuckled.

"I dunno, Seth says he thinks that maybe originally there was supposed to be a way down from this side, but that never happened."

"I'm kinda glad that didn't happen, cause now we got the place all to ourselves."

"Yeah, that's why I wanted to come here. So we could be alone and talk."

"Cool, I just wish we'd brought something to drink," Josh laughed.

"Waaaa," Lee teased, "I want a drink, daddy, waaaaa."

Josh laughed too, "I guess we can wait, and remember, this time I'm buying."

They sat on the cement seat there, staring out across the lake, and despite having had a lively banter minutes before, neither boy knew how to begin this conversation. Lee was a man of action however, and decided the best way to get the ball rolling was to approach Josh physically.

Taking a deep breath, Lee reached over and took Josh's hand in his. Then entwining their fingers he gave the boy a huge smile.

"That's nice, I like holding hands," Josh whispered, and just like that the two began to talk and really open up, and they spent the next hour or so really getting to know one another.

Eventually, hunger and thirst drove them back to the bike, and donning their helmets they were off in search of sustenance. Since Spavinaw didn't have much to offer in the way of food, the boys headed up the highway to the next town, Langley, then across the Pensacola Dam, which was at the upper end of the lake that fed Spavinaw. Once across the dam, they were in the tiny town of Disney, which was a popular camping area with several businesses catering to the campers, including a very popular mom and pop Drive-in.

The food was not only good, but reasonably priced, and after getting their food the boys parked themselves on a picnic table at the back of the lot and chowed down.

"Umm, I love their onion rings," Lee said gobbling down a hot crispy ring.

"Let me try one, you can have some fries," Josh offered.

"Sure," Lee said pushing his cardboard dish of onion rings toward Josh.

"Mmm...they are good, wish I'd ordered those instead."

"We can share," Lee said grinning as he grabbed a couple fries from his friend's container and dipped them in ketchup.

"This has been a fun day," Josh said seriously, "Next time, I'd like to come get you and take you to Pryor and show you around."

"That would be cool. I know a little of the town from going there with my folks and the gang, but I'd love to see it through your eyes."

"And someday, maybe you'll feel comfortable enough to show me around the campground and introduce me to your family."

"Aww, it's not that I don't want to," Lee said frowning, "I just want to be sure, that's all."

"Sure? Sure of what? Didn't today mean anything to you?" Josh said looking hurt.

"Of course it did. I just, well...I don't want to screw this up. I promise eventually I'll tell them, but just not yet."

"All right, it's not like I have much choice," Josh said solemnly.

"Don't be mad, okay?"

"I'm not mad," Josh assured him, "it's no big deal, really."

"Today was great, and it's not over yet. You know, they sell swim trunks at that little store by the damn. We could buy a pair and go swimming."

"Hey, that's not a bad idea," Josh said brightening some, "we can ride back to Spavinaw and change in the bathroom..."

****************************************

"Where's Lee?" Jordy said scratching his ribs as he entered the kitchen, Seth not far behind him.

"He went for a walk," Mrs. Kelly said looking up from her recipe book.

"A walk, alone?"

Mrs. Kelly laughed, "He's a big boy, I'm sure he'll be all right. He just needed some time alone, to think, that's what he said."

"Hmm, weird. He's been acting weird lately, kind of secretive, like he's hiding something."

"I know what, but I can't tell," Seth offered.

"Shut up, you do not," Jordy said shoving Seth playfully, "If you do, then tell us."

"It's only a guess, but I really shouldn't say..."

"Tell us or die," Jordy threatened as he placed his hands around Seth's neck and gently pretended to strangle him.

Seth just laughed for a moment, then he grabbed Jordy's hands and pulled them around his waist, "Make love, not war," he chuckled.

"Aww, come on, tell us," Jordy begged.

"I could be wrong," Seth said, but it was obvious he really wanted to tell them what he thought was going on.

"So, if you're wrong, you're wrong. He'll never know," Jordy scoffed.

"Well, I caught the tail end of one of his phone calls the other day and I'm pretty sure he was making plans to meet someone at the Quik-Stop today."

"What?" Jordy exploded.

"Someone, as in a friend?" Mrs. Kelly asked trying to remain calm.

Seth nodded, taking his time and enjoying the telling on his own terms.

"Well...who?" Jordy asked impatiently.

"That part I don't know, for sure, but I have a strong suspicion about who it might be."

"And...who?" Jordy said squeezing Seth as if he could force the answer out of him.

"It's just a guess mind you, but I think..."

"Yes, yes...go on."

"I think it's that kid Josh, the one that beaned me with the ball."

"What? That's crazy, where would he even know him from?"

"Well, you know, I got his number from coach, so I could call him and tell him I was still alive, and a few days later Lee asked me for it. He said he wanted to talk about the game and let the kid know no one here held a grudge."

"But why?" Jordy said finally pulling away from Seth and sitting down at the table.

"Do you really have to ask?" Seth said pulling out a chair and joining Jordy?"

"I...I mean, they only met that one time...on the field..."

"Remember how it was when we met? One look and we knew? Do you think that doesn't happen to other people too?"

"But, why wouldn't he tell us...?"

"Perhaps because he isn't sure about his feelings, yet," Mrs. Kelly suggested, "but I must say, I am disappointed that he doesn't trust us enough to come clean about this boy. I wonder..." she said looking worried, "How old is this boy, does he drive?"

"Nah, he's our age. If they met at the Quik-Stop someone had to bring him."

"Well, he's been gone at least three hours, surely they're not still there. I hope he didn't go off somewhere with this boy and his ride without telling me where he'd be."

"I'm sure he didn't," Seth said, sorry now that he'd opened this can of worms. Lee would be furious when he found out, that was for sure.

"Why don't you boys go see if you can find him. Take the 'death machines' if you must, but please try to find him."

"Can we at least eat first?" Jordy whined.

"Get something to eat at the store," she suggested.

"Okay, sure...mom. Don't worry. Lee is a smart kid, he won't do anything stupid."

"I hope you're right," Mrs. Kelly said looking a bit worried, despite Jordy's reassurances.

*****************************

A short time later, the two zoomed up the hill, Seth in front and Jordy behind on the ATV that Mrs. Kelly often referred to as 'the death machine'. Business was good on this warm summer day, and as they rolled to a stop at the side of the building, a bright orange Yamaha dirt bike came flying into the parking lot and came to a stop beside them.

At first they were more interested in the bike than it's occupants, but it only took them a second to realize they knew at least one of the riders.

"What the...?" Jordy gasped as Lee removed his helmet and then giving the two a nervous smile.

Then when the other rider revealed himself Jordy and Seth finally put two and two together.

"Gosh, it's Josh," Seth said with a chuckle, "Nice bike, but aren't you a little young to be riding it?"

"I turned 15 last week, this was my birthday gift from my folks."

"Does mom know you were out riding on that thing?" Jordy said, then cursed himself for sounding more like an adult than a fun-loving kid of 14.

Lee gave Jordy a 'WTF?' look then sighed, "No, are you gonna tell on me?"

"No, of course not," Jordy said quickly, "I'm cool with it. Can't be any more dangerous than the 4-wheelers, right?"

"So...where have you guys been?" Seth said meekly.

"Spavinaw, we went swimming," Lee said quickly, "don't believe me, here's our wet suits," he said holding out the plastic bag that held the now wet swim trunks.

"Cool, sounds like fun. Too bad we couldn't have gone too," Jordy said sounding a bit hurt.

"Maybe next time," Josh offered, "uh, by the way, in case you don't remember me, I'm Josh," the boy said, then timidly sticking out his fist to bump.

Seth bumped quickly and enthusiastically, but Jordy was a bit slower on the take. However, he finally gave in, putting his own feelings aside and doing the right thing. He had nothing against this boy, other than the fact that he almost killed his boyfriend, and...it was really Lee that he was disappointed in. Not because he was out having fun and doing forbidden things, but because he hadn't confided in Jordy, who thought up until now that there were no secrets between them.

"How was Spavinaw creek?" Seth asked, seeing that Jordy was in one of his moods.

"It was great, I wish we'd had the raft or some inner tubes. The current was awesome. We did let it kind of wash us down the creek, but there are too many rocks and we really needed a raft," Lee said enthusiastically.

"So, riding around and swimming, that's all you did?" Jordy said, then cursed himself again for sounding like an inquisitioner.  This was the kind of thing a grown up might ask, not a fellow kid who was supposed to understand that kids liked to have fun, and that sometimes they broke the rules a little bit.

"Well, we had donuts, here, and lunch at that little drive-in in Disney, you know the one with the great onion rings," Lee said sounding a bit snotty, "oh, and I took a piss at the park bathroom at Spavinaw, is that enough info, dad?"

"Sorry," Jordy said blushing, "none of my business. Well, mom is a little worried, but whatever you want to tell  her, just let us know and we'll back you up. Right now, I'm starving. I'm gonna go inside and grab a couple slices of pizza and a drink. Seth, you coming?"

"Yeah, go on, I'll be right there," Seth said giving Jordy a knowing smile.

When Jordy was gone, Seth turned to the two and apologized for both of them, "First, I'm sorry for telling Jordy and mom what I overheard the other day, about you setting up this meeting. And second, I apologize for Jordy. But you gotta remember, he and Lee go way back, and even as close as me and Jordy are, Lee has a special place in his heart, and well...he'd just hurt that you kept this from him, that's all."

"I didn't mean to," Lee sighed, "I just wanted to make sure what I felt was real and that Josh felt it too. That's what today was all about. Sure, we talked on the phone and messaged each other, but until today we'd never talked face to face."

"And..." Seth said grinning.

"I think we made some major progress, right Josh?" Lee said, turning to the other boy and locking eyes with him.

"Definitely, and I def want to do this again, or have you come to Pryor, like we talked about."

Seth wanted so badly to ask if the two had had sex yet, but he didn't think this was the right time or place for such a question. Especially considering the fact that Jordy seemed upset about  their just being together, let alone being intimate.

"Let's grab a drink." Lee suggested.

"Okay, but then I gotta head home. I promised my folks I'd be back for supper."

Inside, they found Jordy at one of the small tables at the front of the store for customers who wanted to linger over fresh donuts and coffee, or a full meal from the deli. In front of him was a whole pizza and a huge fountain drink, and as soon as he saw his friends he invited them over.

"Grab a drink and you can help me eat this pizza. It was about to be scrapped so I got it half price. It's a little dry, but still pretty good."

The boys quickly grabbed a drink and Lee had them added to their account, then the three slipped into the booth with Jordy, Seth as his side and the other two across from them.

"Sorry, about earlier," Jordy said quickly, "It's none of my business what you do in your free time. I just lost my head, that's all."

"It's okay, I'm not upset or mad," Lee assured him, "If it was you slipping around, I'd probably feel the same way. I just hoped no one would notice till I made sure what I felt was real and that Josh felt it too."

"No hard feelings then?" Jordy said offering his hand.

"No hard feelings," Lee confirmed, shaking Jordy's hand then wrapping his other hand around it and holding it while he spoke, "I want us all to be friends. Josh is a cool guy, even if he did try to kill your boyfriend," Lee chuckled.

"He's too hard-headed to kill," Jordy said giving Josh a warm smile, "shake?" he said pulling his hand away from Lee and offering it to Josh now.

They shook, all was forgiven, and then they devoured the pizza, washed down with their fountain drinks.

After the feeding was over, the boys walked Josh to his bike and they lingered a few minutes before Seth suggested he and Jordy head home and give the two some time alone.

"You okay walking home?" Jordy said, "I could come back for you?"

"Nah, I'm fine. The walk will do me good after all the food I've eaten today," Lee chuckled, "thanks anyway, see you guys at the house."

As the two rode off on the ATV, Lee dared move a little closer to Josh. Though there were no cars parked on this side of the building at present, people came and went from the pumps to the store, and an occasional passing car kept them on guard.

"Thanks for meeting me," Josh said, his lips twitching as if aching to contact Lee's.

"Thanks for coming. I had fun, but best of all: I feel like I really got to know you today."

"Same," Josh said daring to take Lee's hands in his, "call me later, if you want, or text me."

"I will," Lee said, suddenly at a loss for words.

"Well, I should go," Josh said swinging Lee's arms playfully.

"I wish you could spend the night," Lee said, then blushed.

"Maybe next time, if you can work it out, I'm sure my folks won't care. Or...you can stay over at my house."

"First, I have to tell mom and dad about you and see how they react," Lee said looking nervous.

"Do you think Seth and Jordy will talk to them first?"

"No, definitely not. Not after talking to us. They were just worried before, but now that they know what's up, they'll be on our side. I should have confided in them to begin with, but this might work out just fine too."

"Okay, well...I really gotta go," Josh said, then looking around to make sure no one was watching, he leaned in and gave Lee a brief hug and peck on the lips, "later, dude," he said grinning and blushing at the same time.

"Later," Lee said smiling, noting once again just how cute the boys was, braces and all, "I'll call you after dinner, say about 8, is that good?"

"Perfect," Josh said fastening his helmet and starting his bike, "Vroom, vroom, he chuckled, "see ya later."

"Bye," Lee said as he watched Josh push the bike backwards, then start off slowly toward the edge of the parking lot. Then with a final wave, Josh spilled out onto the highway and was off in a flash, the whine of his Japanese pocket rocket echoing in the canyon of trees lining the highway.

Lee stood there for a moment, long after Josh was out of sight, then sighed and turned to head home. It had been a great day, but he wasn't looking forward to what came next, namely: telling his new mom and dad what he'd been up to. Not that it was anything bad, so far. Heck, besides seeing each other naked while changing into their swim trunks, nothing intimate had occurred between them. That is unless you counted kissing, which they had both found quite enjoyable.

Perhaps if Josh hadn't confessed to being a virgin, Lee might have been more aggressive, but all in all he was satisfied with what they'd accomplished that day. Anticipation of what lay ahead was exciting and inspiring, and he was in no hurry to rush into things.

The walk home took 15 minutes, mainly because he took his time, stopping occasionally to observe some gift of nature or to gather his thoughts, but he knew he couldn't stall forever, and eventually he walked in the front door.

Seth and Jordy were nowhere in sight and he guessed Mr. Kelly was still at the office. Mrs. Kelly, however, mom, sat in the living room, a Kindle reader in her hand, and when he entered she looked up and smiled.

"Well, I see you made it back safely. How was your day?"

"Great, umm, mom...I need to talk to you," he said sounding more like a six-year-old than a seasoned teen.

"Have a seat," she said patting the space beside her, "do you want something to drink first?"

"Nah, I'm good. We had sodas at the Quik-Stop."

"All right, I'm all ears," she said, hoping her willingness to be fair and open to him was always apparent in every move she made.

"I sort of lied about where I was going today...."

End: Chapter 51

So, Lee's secret rendezvous didn't go exactly as he'd planned, but in the end it turned out okay. He and Josh had a great day and they got to know each other a little better. They may not be there yet, but they're getting there, slowly but surely. Sometimes, slow is good, and there is no need to rush into things, especially in matters of the heart. So, while Lee pours his heart out to his mom, and later to his dad, Jordy licks his wounds, and with Seth's help, all is well at Bennett Falls Campground once more.

Next: The romance ramps up.
