Brrrdcember 2024 - Day 31 - Common Swift

BAHAHHAHAHAHA, ANOTHER SECRET BIRD!!!!!

Just LOOK at this little swoodly swoop!!!

I grew up on a farm, and the barn was always filled with Barn Swallows. I loved to watch them, check on their nests, and I even have a few old nests saved back at home.

I know that barn swallows and swifts are not the same thing, but they do remind me of them!

I bit off more than I could chew with this one. It all made sense in the rough sketch, and then as I started to ink it, that I was drawing two birds in perspective, in dynamic poses. Also, I have never drawn these birds before.

Each one was inked 3 times before I settled on a final line, but if you look closely, I left the rough slightly visible, because my final line lost a bit of the movement I was trying to capture. It's one of my little tricks, and personally, I like looking at rough drawings way more than clean ones.

I think I will draw more of these birds in the future, because they are just so cool.

Again, these are extras because I'm obsessed with my Grid on Instagram and CARA, so I did two extra drawings to self sooth my madness there.
